What to use for tactors?

Once you have your TactaBoard working, there are many output devices you can control. We have used pager motors, like the ones used in cell phones and pagers, muffin fans, solenoids, backlights, and a space heater.

Pager Motors

We have found several sources for pager motors. These are in no particular order.

All Electronics: Search for "vibrating".
Jameco: Search for "vibrating".
American Science Surplus: Search under "motors".
Tokyo Parts Industries Co., Ltd.: On the English/Products Line page, click on "Motor Division". These are the highest quality we found, but it is worth it.
Gizmotronics (UK): Nokia motors..
Do a Google search on "vibrating motor".

Solenoids

We have found several sources for solenoids. These are in no particular order.

Jameco: Search for "solenoid".
All Electronics: Search for "solenoid".

Muffin Fans

We have found sources for muffin fans. These are the fans used in many PCs, and come in many different sizes.

Jameco: Search for "fan".
All Electronics: Search for "fan".
American Science Surplus: Search under "muffin fan".

Backlights

We have found a source for backlights. We use these for information display, such as network activity, or memory usage, or we have also built an array of 16 of these that we control just for fun!
